How I started

Well If you have reached this pagee it is because you have an interest in following my progress. This site is being started as a fulfillment of a promise to Phil Lafferty the "OldeDragon". to document my progress in becoming a Betta Breeder. My story.....

My name is GREG ENGLER hence the name of the Website is GEBettas!. ! have been breeding fish for many years and have bred Angels, catfish and most recently show guppies.... currently I have some outstanding Blue Deltas that I got from Stan Shuble.... they are very high quality fish and probably show quality. I like guppies, but the only problem is they are so uniform that it is very difficult to keep interested in the same color and strain.... Yes I will post some pics here some day. Here are some to spark you curiosity Shubel Blues ....LOL

About 5 years ago I began my interest in bettas and talked to Phil (hopefully one day I will meet him personally). He started me off with some stock and I was on my way. Until a major life event forced me out of the hobby.

Early this year I went to the pet store and found a couple of Bettas which I will try to spawn. But I know from experience they may not amount to much because of unknown genetics. But I figure I will try to spawn them to get some experience before spawning more important fish.

In early January, 2008 I contacted Phil Lafferty and enquired about getting some breeding stock. After some questioning of my

desires, and ability to raise bettas
time commitment
space and tank requirements (enough equipment to effectively raise bettas).

Mr. Lafferty and I discussed the above and concluded that I should start off with a few strains of young breeders. On January 16th, 2008 13 fish arrived and a listing of the fish can be found on my stock page. They all are still alive but young and I am waiting a few weeks to a month to spawn them.

WHILE I AM WAITING... I AM GOING TO EXPERIMENT WITH ATTEMPTING TO SPAWN MY FISH STORE BOUGHT FISH. The rest of this site will be a documentary of my breeding. I intend to show you pics of all my breeding progress and show the Good and the Bad results.......wish me luck.
